Battery Box

Battery box

Breeze battery box is installed low in the engine bay with rivets along the x-brace and screws tapped into the 4-inch round chassis tubing

The FFR Complete Kit includes a black plastic battery box mounted in the trunk compartment. This placement is difficult to access, requires a long battery cable back to the engine, and provides relatively poor weight distribution since the battery is high on the trunk floor.

A better solution is the Breeze battery box (70561) that relocates the battery to the engine bay and places it low, just above the bottom of the large 4-inch main chassis tubes. The battery leads and engine ground are all short and conveniently located in the engine bay. This box accommodates a group size 51 battery (either 51R or 51).

The following FFR parts, usually located in box 2A, will not be used:

  • FFR 12397: black plastic battery box
  • FFR 12398: crossbar hold-down
  • FFR 14812: crossbar hold-down clips
  • FFR 10801: J bolt, 1/4”-20 x 9” (quantity 4)
  • FFR 10802: nylon lock nuts, 54”-20 (quantity 4)
  • FFR 11038: washer, 54” USS (quantity 4)

The Breeze kit also provides battery and ground cables.

Follow the Breeze-provided instructions and drill mounting holes. The battery box and the two angle brackets will be sent for powder coating along with the aluminum panels. Since the battery tray is stainless steel, powder coating adds an insulating safety margin.
