Emergency Brake Bracket

The Complete Kit includes an OEM Mustang emergency brake which is mounted on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel on a bracket welded to the chassis that protrudes through the transmission wall.

Since this build will replace the OEM ebrake with a Lokar ebrake mounted on the transmission tunnel top, the bracket will be removed, and the hole in the transmission tunnel wall will be patched.

Patch cutout

Covering the cutout

Use of surplus FFR 13855 to cover the cutout in the passenger side transmission tunnel wall

The passenger transmission tunnel wall has a cutout to accommodate the OEM ebrake bracket.

In the Complete Kit packaged aluminum box (usually numbered 6A), there are two small filler plates — FFR part number 13855: ALUMINUM PANEL, LH/RH TRUNK WALL FRONT SIDE COVER PANEL — used to block off the mountings if roll bars are not installed. Since this build includes both driver and passenger roll bars, these plates are surplus.

However, the FFR 13885 plates can be redeployed to fill the cutout in the passenger side tunnel wall used by the OEM Mustang ebrake.

  • bend one plate to fill the small floor gap
  • position the plates as shown in the photo below
  • rivet into place

After powder coating, which will also cover the rivets, the panel will have a fresh, professional look (although the panel will eventually be covered by insulation and carpet).

Remove ebrake bracket

Use a hack saw to cut off the ebrake bracket as indicated in the photo.
