Prepare Radiator Shroud

The Breeze EzePak includes an aluminum shroud that separates the fan from the radiator body and creates a wider and more efficient cooling system.

Marking the cirle

Draw a 7.75" radius circle using the fan center, a cardboard guide, and a Sharpie

Ignore instructions included in the shroud shipping box (from the manufacturer) and so do not use the small angle brackets, plate or rolled aluminum. The shroud looks like a large baking pan, with tabs on one end. Position the fan so that the wire pigtail points towards one of the tabbed ends, and center the fan carefully on the shroud face.

To make the fan cutout:

  • mark mounting hole positions with auto punch
  • draw two intersecting lines between opposite mounting holes to determine fan center
  • drill 1/16” pilot hole at the fan center (where intersecting lines cross)
  • make a rectangular radius guide out of stiff cardboard with a small guide hole in one end and 7 3/4” to other end; secure guide hole end with awl to fan center
  • with Sharpie, rotate radius guide and draw a 15 1/2” diameter circle (7.75” radius guide)
  • refine cut line with tabs that project into circle for fan mounting screws and straight edges that conform to fan shape
  • with jig saw, cut out fan opening on shroud face using duct tape to protect aluminum surface
  • drill ¼” holes for fan mounting screws
  • smooth and de-burr cut edges
